Art Walk with Cara-Ann Simpson: Furari Flores
Next date: Wednesday, 14 January 2026 | 10:00 AM
to 11:30 AM
Join Gallery Director, Rebecca McDuff as she chats to artist Cara-Ann Simpson about her exhibition Furari Flores.
This is a lively and informative way to enjoy the Gallery for art lovers with all levels of knowledge, and to hear more about our artists and their arts practice.
Furari Flores presents the work of Cara-Ann Simpson, exploring the relationship between sound, plants and lived experience. The Latin titles of her artworks reflect the continued use of Latin in contemporary sciences, evoking poetry, symbolism and the irony of a 'dead' language dedicated to life and regeneration.
Using spectrography, field-recorded soundscapes are transformed into real-time visual compositions that reveal the hidden vibrations of plant life. Growing from Cara-Ann’s experiences with serious illness, the project explores storytelling, health and wellbeing, home, and the symbiotic relationships between humans and plants, inviting audiences into a world of multisensory botanical magic and deep listening.
The Art Walk concludes with morning tea in the Galleries' vintage teacup collection.
Cara-Ann Simpson is proudly represented by Onespace, Brisbane.
