Lucinda Dumont invites viewers into a high-energy world where human emotion and instinct collide. This captivating new collection redefines the boundaries of contemporary portraiture through a series of bold abstract human portraits and expressive fauna. Rather than striving for realism, Dumont distils each subject to its emotional essence. Familiar faces and creatures are transformed into a striking maze of vibrant acrylic lines, unexpected contours and a distinctly Queensland-inspired palette. Across a series of dynamic canvases, textured brushwork and playful compositions create works that pulse with movement, personality and joy.
Rather than painting what she sees, Dumont paints what she feels. The result is a colourful collection of faces and fauna that are alive with energy, curiosity and imagination. Dubbed the "pint-sized Picasso", Lucinda's previous exhibitions have attracted enthusiastic audiences and strong community support. Faces & Fauna promises another engaging exhibition celebrating creativity, colour and expression.
Presented as part of Bundaberg Regional Galleries' Open Space program, this exhibition provides professional development opportunities for emerging and independent artists while connecting the community with contemporary creative practice.
This Open Space opportunity is made possible through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Bundaberg Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
