Arts Exchange
The Elsewhere Arts Exchange is a professional development opportunity for emerging and developing artists interested in contemporary mural and public art practice. This three-stage program connects Bundaberg Region artists with an experienced public artist working nationally and internationally. Participants will engage in mentoring, studio-based learning and hands-on development within real-world public art contexts. The selected artist will receive funding to cover travel, accommodation and per diems, ensuring financial barriers do not prevent participation.
What the program includes: The successful applicant will participate in:
A five-day residency in Nambour with artist and mentor Sarah Sculley.
- Spend time in Sarah's studio learning about her creative process and professional practice.
- Participate in a guided public art tour.
- Gain hands-on experience assisting with the delivery of a public mural over two days.
- Receive one-on-one mentoring and practical insights into working as a professional public artist.
A follow-up mentoring visit in Bundaberg (18–19 November 2026) where Sarah will:
- Continue mentoring the selected artist within their own community.
- Share advice about public art opportunities and career pathways.
- Work alongside the artist and provide guidance on community engagement and public art practice.
- Support the artist in applying their new knowledge within the Bundaberg Region.
About the Mentor
Sarah Sculley is a Sunshine Coast-based street artist renowned for her vibrant large-scale murals that combine colour, typography and the female form. Working across murals, canvas, paper, surfboards and skate decks, she creates bold, layered compositions that celebrate connection, strength and creativity. Since her first solo exhibition in Shanghai in 2005, Sarah's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and featured in publications including Home Design Magazine, Grand Designs and idN. She specialises in contemporary street art and large-scale public murals, bringing extensive professional experience as both a practising artist and mentor.

- 12–16 October 2026 – Nambour residency (includes two days assisting with a live mural project)
- 18–19 November 2026 – Bundaberg mentoring visit
One selected artist will receive funding to support travel, accommodation and per diems, removing financial barriers so they can fully participate and focus on developing their practice. This is a career-shaping opportunity for artists ready to take the next step into public art practice.
The program is supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Bundaberg Regional Council supporting arts and culture in regional Queensland.
