Gallery One | Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery

17 October - 5 December

Catching the Burnett celebrates the life and work of Monto-born artist Hugh Gilmour (Gil) Jamieson (1934–1992), whose paintings vividly capture the landscapes, histories and stories of Central Queensland.

Featuring works created both during his time with the Australian Modernists in Melbourne and later from his studio near Monto, this exhibition explores Jamieson's unique blend of social realism, romanticism and surreal storytelling.

Through depictions of land, sea and rural life, Catching the Burnett offers a compelling insight into the people, places and cultural histories that shaped one of Queensland's most distinctive artistic voices.
