First 5 Forever

What is First 5 Forever?

First 5 Forever is an early literacy initiative based on the knowledge that “sharing stories, rhymes, singing, talking and playing with your child from birth builds a foundation for your child’s future development that can last a lifetime.”

To promote this important message and empower families, public libraries are supported by the Queensland Government and State Library of Queensland to provide free resources and activities for children aged five and under.

Programs

Here at Bundaberg Regional Libraries, we host regular programs for children aged five and under and their primary caregivers, including:

Bundaberg Library:

  • Baby Rattle & Rhyme: Mondays at 10 am during term time (for parents and their babies aged birth to walking)
  • Toddler Sing & Smile: Wednesdays at 10 am during term time (for parents and their toddlers aged walking to three years)
  • Learn & Play Storytime: Thursdays at 10 am during term time (for parents and their children aged three to five years)

Childers Library:

  • Story Time: Wednesdays at 10 am during term time (for parents and their children aged five and under)

Gin Gin Library:

  • Story Play: Mondays at 9.30 am during term time (for parents and their children aged five and under)

We also have special community-based sessions periodically throughout the year - keep up to date with our social media pages for information about special First 5 Forever events in our region.
