About the Project
Project funding facilitated emerging mature-age regional songwriter Helen Dawson to employ two industry professionals to engineer her five original songs (Bones EP) to industry standard with instrumental and backing tracks. Secondly, Melinda Wells mentored Helen in ‘Assertiveness and Building Self Confidence’ for Helen to be able to achieve accepting new opportunities to run workshops and mentor other local song writers.

“I've come a long way since meeting Melinda and Harry (facilitators) in 2018, what I've learned about songwriting and producing music from these two professionals is unbelievable. I've been wanting to do songwriting since I was a child and I am finally doing it at 62, I've come so far as a songwriter, it's amazing and something that would not have been possible without this team behind me. I totally trusted them with my songs and the process of collaborating was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed i, blown away by the development of my songs and so very pleased with the outcome. Melinda and Harry had compassion, empathy and feeling towards myself and my original songs and I feel so confident in what I have learned that I know I can workshop songs with other songwriters and share my skills for the benefit of other local songwriters.
Producing my songs has enhanced my stories and emphasised the feelings behind each song, they made it so easy for me and I felt supported and confident in the studio, and I was amazed how Harry made my voice sound so good! This feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity, however I realise that with support from RADF to work with this amazing team that myself and other songwriters sitting at home not thinking they could ever do this CAN ACTUALLY DO THIS! I placed myself in the hands of the right people who have helped me realise that no dream is impossible!”
